We installed carrera marble subway tile four feet up on the walls and carrera marble hex tile for the floor. We then put the original wood planks that we discovered under the drywall back on the walls.
We received a price of $30,000 to completely redo our medium sized bathroom!!! We’re redoing our whole house and every room was $30,000. This is a well-built 2000+ sq. ft. 40 year old ranch, not a tear down. My husband remodeled our 1/2 bath and it cost us under $2000 using high end materials. We are redoing the laundry room, the mud room and the sun room. Altogether the contractor said it would cost between $175,000 & $200,000 for the rest of the home. Outrageous. We’re looking for a more reasonable contractor in Michigan. This website was very helpful.
The new built in Welsh Dresser replaced old bookshelf’s above an existing built-in cupboard. Firstly, after ripping out the old shelves and taking careful measurements of the space available, it was to the drawing board with a list of requirements e.g. what we wanted to use the Welsh Dresser for. The main requirements being cook books on the centre shelves with storage jars and dishes etc. stored out of sight behind doors, and drawers for table cloths etc.
The reason for the bargain build was that not long after I’d started the build the owners of the local DIY store where I was buying most of my supplies decided to retire and as I was a regular customer offered to give me all the wood I required for the rafters and sell me five of their plate glass display cabinet shelves for just 1 each; and they were kind enough to deliver it all free of charge.
Even a small leak from a feature like a toilet or a shower can cause large amounts of damage that can go unnoticed until floor or wall coverings are removed during a remodeling project. It’s often essential to the home and the homeowner’s health that water-damaged or moldy structural elements such as the framing or subfloor be repaired prior to covering it again during the renovation process.
